It is Kumu Brenda Mohalapua Ignacio's belief that in the sharing of some of the history and philosophy of ho'oponopono with grace and a genuinely caring heart, that others can awaken to and appreciate their own awareness of the healing power to "make things right."
Kumu Brenda guides participants to deepen their awareness and importance of bringing themselves to a place of being pono, (in balance) within and without, allowing passion for life and the healing power within to be ignited. Being pono is paramount to becoming a lomilomi practitioner. She invites all to claim the fulfillment, peace and joy that can come, according to one's belief and allowance.
Kumu Brenda has been honored by ‘Ahahui Lomilomi Hawai’i , the governing association of approved Lomilomi instructors, as an elder with traditionally pure cultural wisdom. Lomilomi:
Since birth, Kumu Brenda was taught to understand the connection of the spirit of love in all things, especially nature, by her grandmother Mary Silva. As a native of Hāmākua on Hawaiʻi Island, Kumu Brenda looked to Hawai’is last reigning Queen, Lili’uokalani, as her inspiration to study Ho’oponopono (making things right). She studied under Spiritual Teacher Nana Veary since 1975 and considers Nana to be one of the main sources of her passion for Lomilomi and Ho'oponopono. Kumu Brenda furthered her studies with Aunty Margaret Machado, Aunty Mary Fragas, Maka’ala Yates, Ronnie Dudoit, and through interactions with many other known Kumu Lomilomi. She extends her deepest love and gratitude to Nā Kumu always.
